Mens Guide To Entertainment, Fitness, Fine Living, and Becoming A Finished Man
Movies & TV
There are so many terrible movies, and so little time to see them. I used to think that people relegated these movies solely to the depth of the discount DVD bins at Wall-Mart, but the slew of Michael Bay movies that hit theaters changed my mind in short order. Good movies and bad – we’ll cover them all, and we’ll even post trailers for upcoming films; isn’t that exciting?
What is a cat’s favorite car? The Catillac. Get it?? Get it??!?
I can’t exactly explain why, but I absolutely love this song and the video that accompanies it. There’s just something magical about interludes featuring 70′s style red lighting while cats and dogs try to run each other off the road in high-speed car chases. The music itself is equally fitting and reminds me of any number of Quentin Tarantino films.
Out of the ring, into the fire… in a fight to the finish. That’s the slogan that graces the cover of Undefeatable, a 1993 action film featuring a very angry Kristi Jones on her quest to defeat the crazed martial arts rapist who killed her sister; no, really… the synopsis actually says that.
I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing the full movie, but even after years of watching this video, this fight scene just never gets old. People punching people so hard their clothes fall off, lots of pointless yelling, and a woman who turns into a man and then back into a woman again – what’s not to like?
I tried. I tried soo effin hard not to embrace my inner geek and buy a pair of the Adidas Star Wars Originals when they first came out. But no. They had to do it. They busted out a whole new fall collection and it’s off the hook. I mean, come on, Boba Fett kicks?! Damn you Adidas, damn you. continue reading →
Below is a very cool remake of Transformers by a Russian fan. I was hoping to see the Russian version of Megan Fox but that ain’t happening son. What you do get are two shirtless Russian dudes, a very cool old school car, and some amazing low budget fighting action between cell phones. Notice the attention to the small details such as using the Nokia phone. “Ooh. Nokias are real nasty. You’ve gotta respect the Japanese. They know the way of the samurai…”
As a huge fan of the infamous “car show” Top Gear, I was relieved to find out that Adam Carolla didn’t make it as a host on the show, the guy’s not funny at all and probably knows nothing about cars.
The new American Top Gear features Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara and some other dude. I have been looking forward to the American version of Top Gear and watching the trailer, I’m a little disappointed. It looks like Foust and the gang are trying a bit too hard to be like their British counterparts, it will be extremely hard to duplicate what Clarkson, the hamster, and captain slow have achieved. I hope I’m wrong but only time will tell.
What are your thoughts on Top Gear USA’s first trailer?
Krav Maga is a fighting system that focuses on quick, efficient take-downs, performed using an economy of movement and simple instinctive motions. It’s with these things in mind that Grandmaster Imi Sde-Or developed the Krav Maga fighting style during the events of pre-war Europe.
Since its inception, Krav Maga has been adopted by the Israeli military as their primary means of hand to hand combat. Krav Maga has also been utilized in film and video games, such as the movie Eastern Promises, and the game Splinter Cell: Conviction. Both titles feature strong male leads who tackle waves of enemies trying to slice them into little pieces. Hell, Viggo Mortensen even fights off two big guys while wearing his birthday suit; pretty impressive to be sure.
I took Karate as a young teen hoping to become the next Neo, but it’s obvious that I was looking in the wrong places. In terms of sheer stopping power, Krav Maga seems to be the way to go.
I never thought the day would come that someone took the time to combine two of my favorite movies into a re-imagining of Fight Club, but it’s happened. Ferris Club manages to create a perfect meld of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Fight Club. From the cuts, to the audio, the Classy Hands crew nailed the whole shebang.
Ferris Club is inspired by The Ferris Bueller Fight Club Theory which hypothesized that Cameron imagined his own day off and that Ferris was actually his own alter ego, ala Tyler Durden. Shockingly enough, I had actually heard a friend “trick” his girlfriend into believing this to be truth, and not just a theory.
Ferris club was created by Robbe Reese, Lee Keeler, Brandon Brown, and Zack Graber.
Word on the street is that in the upcoming Transformers 3, Bumble Bee might be disguised as a Datsun 510. I’m a big Datsun fan and have my own little Datsun 260Z project going at the moment. The Datsun grease monkeys should be pretty excited about this. Check out the pictures below of a scene being shot. Pictures also include hottie continue reading →
This short clip below made my day. What do you get when you combine the skills of Iron Man, RoboCop, and Batman? Apparently it’s “Future X-Cops”. Although it doesn’t stand a chance in North America, it did quiet well in the Asian subcontinent thanks to Andy Lau who is considered to be the “Chinese Tom Cruise”.
It’s very rare that I see advertising which I find striking enough to make me glance a second time. Most of the billboards and posters plastered around a city before a movie’s imminent release are fairly unoriginal and tend to feature the cast of characters making menacing brooding faces, or muscle bound men walking away from large explosions, but every so often we see something just a bit more original.
These massive advertisements are plastered across various buildings in NYC and I imagine they are a sight to behold in real life. I’m betting that many commuters spilled their coffee on their way to work after being startled by these pieces, and that’s the kind of thing that continue reading →
