I’m a long time fan of Willem Dafoe’s work. He’s done numerous movies over the years, and though I haven’t always enjoyed the movies themselves (Daybreakers, I’m looking at you), I’ve almost always enjoyed his acting. If this trailer for his latest film The Hunter is any indication, then once again we’re in for a real treat.
The Hunter stars Willem Dafoe as Martin, a mercenary sent by a European biotech company into the Tasmanian wilderness to track down an animal that was thought to be long since extinct, the continue reading →

Lockout, the action packed sci-fi thriller starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace is hitting theatres soon, and I’m damn excited to go see it. If you’re thinking that the film sounds familiar, you’re right. Lockout is also known as MS ONE: Maximum Security. One of the titles is for the North American release, and the other is for overseas. Which one is which, though? I have no idea.
Now, if you haven’t heard of the film before, and am wondering what the hell I’m talking about, Lockout is essentially Guy Pearce being a continue reading →

Just yesterday I posted the teaser for this Ferris Bueller inspired Honda commercial, and already the full deal has hit the internet. It’s sad too, because I had such high hopes for this. It’s a commercial, featuring Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller; how can a person screw that up? You see, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of my favorite 80s movies, and probably one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s been years since I’ve had my Bueller fix, and I expected nothing short of the second coming of Christ from this commercial. Unfortunately, that just wasn’t the case.
The commercial starts off with Bueller calling in sick to work, in typical Bueller fashion, but there’s something wrong. As you watch the commercial unfold, you’ll continue reading →

The legendary Ferris Bueller returns at last! Bueller is a personal hero of mine, and likely the envy of anyone attending high-school in the 1980s. Now he’s returned to bring us more of his quirky dialogue and worldly insights in the form of… a Honda commercial? Yes, apparently Matthew Broderick is reprising his role for an upcoming Super Bowl commercial featuring a collection of brand new Honda vehicles.
This video is just a teaser, and even for a teaser it’s damn short. This clip moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and watch it for a moment you could continue reading →

Given my continuing obsession with all things Prometheus, I’m excited to share this brand new international Prometheus poster with you. The art direction looks fantastic, and I’m glad that Ridley Scott is finally taking another shot at the science fiction genre. He’s damn good at it. Having said that, I do have one minor concern. There’s been a flurry of activity surrounding the movie lately, and I really hope that Ridley Scott doesn’t… get a big… head?
The new poster features another scene from inside the derelict ship, and given the giant ominous stone head, I’m curious what direction Ridley is taking the film. If the ship is full of creepy crawlies, the crew will simply have to continue reading →

As anyone who knows me would attest, Total Recall is my absolute favorite movie of all time. I would explain why, but if you’ve seen the film, you would immediately understand. If you haven’t, well… you’re missing out. Unfortunately, us Total Recall fans now have a bit of a problem. Apparently someone decided it would be a good idea to re-make Total Recall, and starring Colin Farrell no less. Sadly, I don’t have a pukey face emoticon to post here, so you’ll have to use your imagination.
Both a promo image (seen above) and the synopsis were released, but I’m not going to share the synopsis with you. Hint: it’s exactly the same as continue reading →

This is a brand new featurette for MS ONE: Maximum security, the upcoming sci-fi thriller starring Guy Pearce as the bad ass known only as Snow. I posted the trailer a while back, and now we get a chance to hear more about the story and characters by way of the director, Stephen St. Leger – a name which reminds me of a cold beer on a warm day.
Stephen talks at length about Snow – the dry witted anti-hero of the story – and how that character has evolved since him and James Mather originally continue reading →

Finally, after months of still images and brief interviews with Ridley Scott, we get a real… actual… Prometheus trailer. Ridley used the word epic for this film during some of his interviews, and based on what I’ve seen in this short trailer, I don’t think he was exaggerating. The trailer is full of fast cuts, stunning landscapes, and more science fiction goodness than you can shake a xenomorph tail at.
I love most of Ridley Scott’s work in general, but what I really like about the trailer is the seemingly massive scale of the movie. There are shots of numerous cramped areas – much like we saw in continue reading →

Finally, it’s here! I heard about the leak of this Dark Knight Rises trailer days ago and was itching to post it up. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t find a copy that wasn’t completely unwatchable. That all changes today, though, and if you haven’t had a chance to see this yet, you’re in for a real treat. Crank up the volume, set the video to maximum resolution, and enjoy the show. The trailer does an excellent job of conveying the mood and happenings of Gotham City, and you may just continue reading →

It’s been a long time since anyone released an Aliens movie. No, I don’t count the Aliens vs Predators films, as they were mostly trash. I mean a true Aliens film, and preferably by a talented director such as, oh… I don’t know, maybe Ridley Scott? Well, today we get our wish, kind of.
This is a poster for a new Ridley Scott directed film called Prometheus. Details are sparse, but apparently he’s been working on this for quite some time, and filming is wrapping up on his set in Iceland. The film isn’t a true Aliens movie, but it does take place before any of the Alien films, and presumably in the same universe. We also know that H.R. Giger was involved in the process, though to what extent I have no idea. continue reading →
