Games

Video games… the bane of Jack Thompson and concerned parents everywhere. Fortunately we know better and absolutely love games. Here at Unfinished Man, you’ll find the latest videos, previews, reviews, and anything else even vaguely related to games, the gaming industry, and the rock-star game developers that create said games.

Triss From The Witcher Nude In Polish Playboy

What you see here is Triss Merigold, the red-headed magician we know and love from The Witcher. Notice anything unusual? Let me help you out – she’s in various states of undress, and featured prominently on the cover of an upcoming issue of Polish Playboy magazine. Based on the cover, I can just imagine what the full set will look like.

Seeing this picture was actually quite enlightening for me. For starters, I had no idea that Poland had their own version of Playboy – a version that seemingly deviates from the kind of stuff we get here. I haven’t browsed a Playboy magazine in many years (the internet has replaced that entirely for me), but I imagine that having a video game character on the cover is either rarely done here, or not at all.

Below is a cringe worthy video of a woman named Malwina presenting the magazine cover on stage for some CD Project related event.  continue reading →

I love when game companies take the time to develop media for use outside the game they are developing for, such as the “meet the x” videos that Valve produced for TF2, or in a more general sense, websites and commercials for companies that only exist in the game world. Eidos has done just this with the release of their Sarif Industries commercial, based on the fictional company of the same name. We get a chance to see the lighter side of Sarif Industries, such as a father attempting to disembowel his son with a football, and a man capable of taking blackmail photos of his girlfriend with his mechanical eyes. I especially enjoy the soft piano music and the woman’s soothing voice; it’s heartwarming.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution arrives August 23rd for PC, Xbox360, and PS3.

With the release of ID Software’s Rage drawing ever closer, the team behind the title has started trickling out new footage and screenshots to wet our appetite. This new weapons trailer showcases a slew of weapons available to you as a loner trying to survive the cruelty of the wasteland and of the evil midget clowns. Honestly, who likes clowns? I’m looking forward to blowing them away in the arena that’s shown in the trailer.

Now, below is a list of the weapons shown, and my own brief and probably unsatisfying comments about them. continue reading →

Polish Magazine Scan From The Witcher 2If you’ve never had the pleasure of playing through CD Projekt’s The Witcher, you’re doing yourself a major disservice. The original game featured a deep and branching story arc, beautiful scenery, and incredibly fun game-play. The Witcher also had something that most games don’t; boobs… lots and lots of boobs.

Now CD Projekt is working on The Witcher 2, and if this scan from a Polish gaming magazine is any indication, it seems the team has ditched the “sex cards” in favor of something a bit more… visceral. I’m fine with that decision. The sex cards were well done and amusing to collect, and I think these in-game cinematics will be just as entertaining, if not more so. Perhaps there will even be controls for various sexual positions, or a thrust speed, etc. People in North America seem to get really bent out of shape when it comes to sex, and I’m glad to see a company that’s willing to create a game the way they want to do, without worrying about delicate North American sensibilities.

The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings arrived on PC on Tuesday, May 17th.

I remember watching the first Brink trailer ages ago and being intrigued. At the time, there were few details available, but I knew that part of the team working on Brink was also responsible for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, a game which brought me months and month of entertainment and cost absolutely nothing. While Brink isn’t free, I have a feeling that the game will be more than worth the price of admission. The gameplay looks interesting, and being the sucker for Parkour that I am, I’m looking forward to the various Parkour influenced movements that Splash Damage included in the game – lots of wall-runs at the very least.

This new video shows off a slew of abilities that players can unlock as they progress through the ranks of the persistent online ranking system of Brink. We also get a chance to see more of the weapons and beautiful level design that fills the world. The scenery looks stunning and varied, with a mix of super clean locales and rusted out city ghettos. I also noticed a weapon which brought a smile to my face; a suppressed shotgun, a weapon which I’ve wanted to see in a FPS ever since watching No Country For Old Men.

Brink arrives on May 17th for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

Adhesive Games just released a 2nd trailer for their upcoming mech combat FPS, Hawken. Hawken is being developed by a small team of indie developers, and this trailer shows footage of some mech combat as seen through the cock-pit of one of the various towering metal monstrosities that the player is able to pilot. The game is still early in development, but I think you’ll agree that the visuals are absolutely stunning, and the game-play looks like a lot of fun as well. I had a real hard on for MechWarrior 2, and I think this game will help saté my craving for mech on mech combat.

Hawken is expected to arrive when it’s done, and you can find more information on the Adhesive Games website.

Here’s another video in what appears to be an ongoing gameplay footage release spree from Dice. Fault Line Episode 3 follows the player as he works to find the end point of a suspicious wire leading into a building. Given the seemingly paper-thin story, you can guess what’s at the end of it. What you probably didn’t expect, however, is a brief bout of fisticuffs. It looks as though the player is able to engage in a Rock’em Sock’em style of mêlée combat, at least in scripted sequences.

The previous videos were excellent and showed off a number of new features, such as improved building destruction, and this new clip takes this a step further. I’m not going to spoil the sequence for you, but make sure to watch right until the end of the video; you won’t be disappointed.

Battlefield 3 is coming out this fall for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

Eidos released yet another trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, this time showing off a 800 B-EE, a pirate named Zeke Sanders, and Adam Jensen with a case of turrets. Get it? GET IT?? Hahaha… ah… Anyway, this trailer highlights 3 very different ways that you can play the game, using either aggressive behavior, stealth, or simply adapting to the situation.

We finally get to see the sniper rifle in action, but most surprisingly we get to see that the player can not only control turrets remotely, but also walk around holding them as they fire while sporting a slightly confused facial expression. In the trailer someone makes fun of Adam for having such a silly face, and he tosses his turret at the person in a rage.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is arriving August 23rd for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

Square Enix just released a new game-play trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution featuring commentary by Eidos’s lead writer, Mary DeMarle. The trailer shows multiple ways of completing one of the games early levels by either using direct force, or being stealthy. We also get to see a few of the brutal and extremely satisfying mêlée take-downs that Adam Jensen is able to perform using his built-in arm blades.

The trailer looks very much in the style of the original Deus Ex, at least in terms of game-play. The graphics are substantially better than Human Revolution’s Unreal powered predecessor, but admittedly, the visuals do look a touch last gen. Having said that, if this game is even a quarter as enjoyable as Deus Ex, I’ll be more than willing to overlook the slightly dated graphics in favor of a deep and branching story, and interesting game-play.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will hit North American retailers on August 23 for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

If Mario game was first person shooter

Mario, possibly the most famous video game character of all-time, is back and better than ever. I was very excited to see this but lets not get our hopes up because this is only a fan-made video. Programs such as 3dsMax, FumeFX, and After Effects were used to make this and a little over 60 hours to render it. continue reading →
