Motorcycles

I love motorcycles – do you know why? They do more with less. Motorcycles have only a measly two wheels, and yet they have all the speed and grace of their four-wheeled brothers, but in a smaller package. If it’s fast and runs on two wheels, you’ll probably read about it here.

Victory-Motorcycles-High-Ball

If you like to ride American cruisers but think Harley Davidson motorcycles are a bit too mainstream then the Victory Motorcycles High-Ball might be the bike for you.  Unveiled at the Progressive Motorcycle Show in New York, the High-Ball is sex on two wheels.  Its painted in flat black, from head to toes, with contrasting white paint on the fuel tank and it comes with retro-cool white-walled tires.

The Victory High-Ball comes with a 106/6 stage 2 V-twin engine that produces 97 horsepower and 113 pound-feet of torque.  The bike comes with ape hangers, which Victory says are adjustable and can be folded down for those that prefer comfort over looking like an ape riding a motorcycle ;) .  Victory Motorcycles High-Ball has a starting price of $13,499. continue reading →

The-One-Custom-Bike

Normally I wouldn’t write about Harley Davidson motorcycles, unless I’m making fun of them or Marisa Miller is involved, but I’ll make an exception this time.  “The One” is a custom bike built by Fat Attack Custom Bikes, based in Switzerland, built on a Harley Davidson chassis.

“The One” is one sexy machine with low to the ground stance, a massive rear tire and a very unique exhaust system, which I’m sure is going to be extremely loud.  It will get you noticed for sure, as you’re sipping on a Latte at your local Starbucks. continue reading →

Honda-CB250T-Much-Much-Go

Much Much Go is a custom bike built by Australian industrial designer Nick Eterovic.  The bike was showcased at the inaugural “Boundless Enthusiasm Bike Build-Off”, and of course it won first place and also won Peoples’ Choice award at the show.

The Much Much Go is an extremely attractive custom motorcycle; I don’t know why I’m so drawn to it?  Maybe it is because of the simplicity of its design and the fact that it doesn’t look like all those “bigger is better” choppers that we see rough-looking guys riding around.  The bike used for the project is a 1979 Honda CB250T with a lot customization. continue reading →

Aprilia-Tuono-V4R-MotorcycleAprilia does it again with the beautiful Tuono V4R naked bike.  I’m not normally a big fan of naked bikes but damn this Aprilia is singing to me.  I guess the fact that this isn’t a true naked bike, more like 1/4 clothed motorcycle, is what got my attention.

The Tuono V4R is based on the Aprilia RSV4, minus the bodywork for a 2-kilo weight reduction and providing us with a better view of the 1000 cc engine.  The Tuono V4R is not only beautiful on the outside but is also beautiful on the inside with some really advanced technology.  The bike comes with advanced traction control and Aprilia Performance Ride Control (PRC).  The PRC is a wheelie control and a programmable traction control system with so many gyroscopes that it’ll put an Apple store to shame. continue reading →

2011-MV-Agusta-F3-MotorcycleItalian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta has unveiled their 2011 middle-weight bike ahead of the EIMCA show in Milan, Italy.  The 2011 MV Agusta F3 is a three-cylinder sport bike that is equipped with an engine that is the most compact in its class.

The F3’s engine is a 675cc three-cylinder which uses a counter-rotating crankshaft for reduced vibration.  Power and torque figures haven’t been released yet, but we’re sure there will be enough power to put a smile on those lucky enough to own one of these beautiful motorcycles. continue reading →

Red-Bull-Racing-Vettel15-Custom-Bike

My first encounter with Rooke Customs was while watching a TV show a few years, when every TV channel had a custom motorcycle show.  I’m not sure which programme it was but they had Jesse Rooke as a guest builder at the shop and for some reason that team ran out of money.  At the fear of not getting paid fully, Jesse decided to leave the show and let the team figure things out on their own, a pretty douche bag move in my humble opinion.

Anyways, after that display of admirable character by Jesse, I never cared much for him or his bikes until I saw Jesse’s latest creation, the Vettel15.  Normally I wouldn’t cover Rooke’s stuff but since I’m a big fan of Formula 1 and Sebastian Vettel, I decided to give the honorable Mr. Rooke some publicity. continue reading →

2011-ducati-1198-SP-Black

Ducati showcased their sport bike line-up at the INTERMOT International Motorcycle Fair in Cologne Germany.  The 2011 line-up includes technology trickled down from Ducati’s Moto GP and World Superbike entries.  The best part of the new line-up is that Ducati hasn’t increased prices over last year’s bikes.

The new model line-up includes the Ducati 848 EVO (full review), priced at $12,995.  Then there’s the base model 1198, priced at $16,495, which includes Traction Control, a new quick shifter and a Ducati Data Analysis computer.  If you’re looking for even more features then there’s the Ducati 1198 SP, priced at $21,995.  The SP includes everything the standard 1198 has and ads a new aluminum gas tank that weighs less than the standard (steel) gas tank and can hold one extra gallon of fuel (that’s a lot for a motorcycle).  Other upgrades on the SP include an Ohlin front fork and TTX rear shock, a slipper clutch and seven-spoke Marchesini wheels. continue reading →

Ducati 848 Evo Flat Black Paint

I have always been a big fan of Ducati sport bikes.  I was first introduced to the world of Ducati with the 748/998 line and instantly fell in love with those motorcycles.  Then came the 749/999 line and that didn’t do it for me, I hated the design of that bike but Ducati redeemed themselves with the new 848/1098/1198 line and I was back on the bandwagon.  Now comes the new Ducati 848 EVO, the evil twin sexy and dirty sister of the 848, dressed in flat back.

The Ducati 848 EVO produces, a crazy, one hundred and forty horsepower (140) and 72 pound feet of torque and revs to 10,500 rpm.  The 848 EVO weighs only 369 pounds, making it a lightweight rocket-ship machine on two wheels.

Brammo Empulse Electric Bike

At first site, the Empulse by Brammo looks like a regular “street fighter” motorcycle.  Turn the key and you don’t hear any engine noise, that’s because the Empulse is an electric motorcycle.

Unlike other electric motorcycles, the Empulse is a very practical bike, with good range and power.  The Empulse is the world’s first water-cooled production electric motorcycle and is capable of doing over 100 miles per hour.  The bike’s range depends on what model you choose.  The top of the line 10.0 has a range of 100 miles, 8.0 has an 80 mile range, and the 6.0 has a 60 miles range on a single charge, using a standard 110 volt outlet.  According to Brammo, the range can be extended if the bike is ridden in a civilized manner. continue reading →
