Motorcycles

I love motorcycles – do you know why? They do more with less. Motorcycles have only a measly two wheels, and yet they have all the speed and grace of their four-wheeled brothers, but in a smaller package. If it’s fast and runs on two wheels, you’ll probably read about it here.

2012 Honda Dream Yuga Motorcycle

Honda has just launched their latest motorcycle in India and is one of the least expensive bikes the manufacturer makes. The 109cc Honda Dream Yuga is priced at 44,642 Indian Rupees ($830 USD) making it quite an affordable option for the locals.

The air cooled, four-stroke engine produces 8.5bhp at 7,500 rpm and 6.6 lb ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. The motorcycle also features a four-speed gearbox, disc brakes on the front, and drum brakes for the rear. The base model features a kick start but a $92 option will get you the electric start and alloy wheels. continue reading →

Abandoned Japanese Highway

I don’t usually give two shits about cars, trucks, or any other sort of vehicle. There’s a good reason that I leave those topics to our other more capable, auto enthusiast writers here at Unfinished Man. Every now and then, though, I’ll see a video of a car or bike zipping along an interesting place, and it gets my adrenaline pumping. This is definitely one of those videos.

Filmed on an abandoned national highway in Japan, this motorcycle trek looks like quite the adventure. If you’ve seen the cinematic version of continue reading →

Yamaha Y125 Moegi Concept Bike

If you have a look through our motorcycles category, you’ll notice we like to write about powerful and sexy motorcycles and it’s very rare we write about scooters or mopeds.  The Yamaha Y125 Moegi Concept does not meet our power requirements but it more than makes up for it with its sexy looks.  I’m not sure if it’s a motorcycle or a scooter but I like it.

With gas prices reaching the highest levels in history, a lot of people are turning to smaller displacement cars and some are even buying scooters to commute to work, but who wants to be seen on one of those ugly things with their tiny wheels and toy looks.  The Moegi, on the other hand, is the Ferrari of scooters, at least in the looks department. continue reading →

Wazuma V8F

The Wazuma V8F is the quad Batman would ride when his Bat Mobile is in the garage getting serviced.  It’s probably the world’s most expensive and powerful quad; powered by a Ferrari V8 engine that produces 250 horsepower, the quad weighs less than 650 kg (1,430 pounds) and can hit a top speed of 241 km/h (150 mph).  The Ferrari engine is mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox from a BMW M3 placed on the handle bar.

The quad rides on modified Momo (+Power) wheels with 324 mm disc brakes and Brembo calipers.  The quad is equipped with slick tires that measure 285/30 ZR19 in the front and 315/30 ZR18 in the back.  The one-off V8F was created by the French company Lazareth and is based on their Wazuma R1 quad and is currently for sale at jameslist.com for a whopping sum of €200,000, or about $261,000 at today’s exchange rate. continue reading →

2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale

Post image for Yamaha Vmax Hyper Modified Project Bike

I’ve never had an opportunity to check out the annual motorcycle shows that take place here in Vancouver and I sure as hell won’t have the honor of checking out the 2011 EICMA show in Milan this November. Just like with the major car shows, there are lots of surprises at the motorcycle shows as well.

Big name manufacturers and smaller manufacturers take advantage of these shows to unveil new models, prototypes, and new technologies that riders can expect in the coming years. Yamaha has summoned some big-name talent in the custom choppers world to work on a project dubbed as the Vmax Hyper Modified. The big-name talent I am referring to includes Roland Sands, Marcus Walz and Luovic Lazareth. Utilizing the creative talent of these three on one project should result in something spectacular. continue reading →

2012 BMW S 1000 RR

BMW first took a shot at producing a sports bike in 2009, which was a huge success not only because it was an extremely capable motorcycle with state of the art gadgetry but it also looked just as good as its Japanese and Italian competitors.  Just a few short years later, we get a brand new BMW S 1000 RR superbike.

The 2012 S 1000 RR is still powered by the class-leading 193 horsepower engine that has a new throttle map for improved low-speed performance.  The bike comes with rain mode which reduces power to 163 HP in the wet; it’s equipped with an Anti-lock Braking System, and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC).  No word on price yet. continue reading →
