The Best Gameplay Trailers of E3 2014

E3 2014 has kicked off with a bang, and there’s a pile of great trailers and gameplay footage already hitting the Internet.

But here at Unfinished Man, we’re more selective… we don’t waste our time with just anything. No, some of the games that have been shown off are, shall we say, a little played out. Creatively bankrupt… just not that interesting. I won’t name names here, and instead show you my favorite five games from E3 2014.

In no particular order…

Far Cry 4 – Gameplay Trailer

I absolutely loved Far Cry 3, and though this trailer really doesn’t show a ton, I’m willing to wait and see. This evil fellow is no Vaas, but the voice actor is excellent in his own right. Anyone know more about him?

I really hope that you can have a monkey friend in this game… a man can dream, right? I’m definitely looking forward to learning more about this one.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

This may come as a surprise, but I’m actually looking forward to this next Call of Duty game. They’ve been doing the exact same thing over, and over, and over again, and finally… finally it looks like they’re doing something just a little bit different.

After the disappointment that was Battlefield 4, I’m willing to give this one a shot for the multiplayer alone.

If you’re starting to notice a trend here, you’re right… I seem to be picking out all the First Person Shooters. I’ll be fixing that after this next round of screenshots.

Inside – Trailer

Next up we’ve got Inside, a new game from Playdead Studios, the people behind Limbo. If you haven’t heard of Limbo, it’s well worth checking out.

For those of you that have already enjoyed it, this trailer has just a touch of Limbo… but also a whole lot more.

It’s a bit tough to tell what the gameplay is going to be like, but the art direction looks absolutely beautiful.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity – Gameplay Demo

Another year, another Assassin’s game. This was one of my favorite franchises for a long, long time, but then I grew tired of the grind.

Is Assassin’s Creed Unity going to change that? I’m not convinced, but the game – visually speaking – is heads above the previous games. At the very least, the gameplay can’t be any worse, right? It can’t be even less challenging, could it?

You can be the judge.

The new parkour system looks excellent… a lot more fluid, anyway. In fact the animations in general seem much improved.

Also worth mentioning is that there’s a co-op demo as well. I forgot to mention that, there’s co-op support. Yay?

The Division – Gameplay Trailer 2014

I’ve written about The Division a few times over the past year, but the developers have been quiet as of late. That is, until dropping this wonderful new trailer.

The focus this generation seems to be on cooperative gameplay, and I think that’s great. In the case of The Division, it doesn’t hurt that this gameplay is set in such an incredible looking disheveled city. The attention to detail is stellar, and the game looks fun too!

The First E3 of This Generation

This is the first E3 to show off games for the new generation of console hardware, and so far the offerings have been pretty solid. We’re seeing a ton of sequels, both good and bad, but also a lot of new IP as well. I think the next few years are going to be very exciting for us gamers.
