Become A Silver Fox: How To Age Gracefully

A good man should be like a fine wine. Complex, interesting and, most importantly, he should get even better with age. There’s nothing wrong with aging. It comes as a sign of maturity, experience, and dignity. The problem is that so many men are so afraid of aging that they do everything that they can to avoid looking like they’re getting any older. In the end, this just makes them look faintly sad and embarrassing. The best thing that you can do is to accept it and lean into. It’s important to age gracefully because people can immediately tell if you’re trying to seem younger. Luckily, hitting your later years with grace and dignity isn’t that hard. Accepting it and moving forward from that is the hard part, after that, it’s just a matter of working with what you already have. With that in mind, here a just a few extremely simple things that you can do to make sure that you’re aging gracefully.

Look the part

There really is nothing more embarrassing than a middle-aged man dressing like someone in his twenties. He might think he looks cool, but everyone around him, young and old, is just going to think he looks a little bit pathetic. No one ‘s going to be impressed by it. The young guys he’s trying to look like are going to see how old he is and find him ridiculous, and the people his own age are just going to see an immature man who can handle that he’s getting older. Instead, adjust your style to fit your age. Throw out the band t-shirts, deep v-necks, and neon colors. Replaces them with a smart, subtle, but always stylish wardrobe that will work for both smart and casual occasions. Make sure you have a well-fitting suit and some good quality shoes. It stopped being acceptable to have shoes that were falling apart after you stopped living in a dorm. You should also tailor your hairstyle to your age as well. Time to ditch the ponytail! A lot of older guys face the problem of hair loss. The worst thing you can do is to try to cover it up. Instead, talk to your barber about how to style your hair around it. Things like finasteride can also help with hair loss.

Now, this doesn’t mean you need to break out the mah-jong tiles and settle down for an early-bird special right away! But there are certain activities which become much more or less acceptable as you get older. This might come as bad news to some people, but there’s nothing funny about a middle-aged guy in a club. Like it or not, clubs are young people spaces, and older guys end up looking stupid or, worse, kind of creepy. Stick to respectable bars, pubs and restaurants. The kinds of places where you’d actually be capable of having a decent, mature conversation.

Start taking care of yourself

When you’re young, it seems like you can do whatever you want! You’re invincible! But as you get older, you start to feel as though that might not be quite as true as you first thought. Hangovers become that much more unpleasant, and suddenly you find you can’t eat your weight in junk food anymore. At a certain point, it becomes time to start really taking care of your body. Think of all of the most dignified, attractive older men in the world. One of the things that they have in common is that their age never stopped them from maintaining themselves. Take that to heart. Not only will eating healthier and staying active keep you feeling good but it will also help you live longer. People can spot a man who doesn’t take care of himself from a mile away and, once you reach a certain age, it starts to have a genuine impact on the amount of respect that a lot of people have for you. By taking the time to maintain your mind, body, and appearance, you’ll be able to show the world that, even as you get older, you’re still a force to be reckoned with and you deserve their respect.

A genuinely mature man is one who can take control of his life. The same goes for your aging. Own it, be proud of it, and you’ll find that you might just be entering the best period of your life so far.
