I haven’t played any kind of tank simulator since the WW2 Online days, but Battlefield 3 makes me believe that it’s possible to drive a tank in a video game and not only not be completely frustrated, but actually have fun as well.
This new trailer for Dice’s Battlefield 3 shows off the epic tank battles that the player can battle through, while showing the softer side of the armed forces as well. The trailer opens with a soldier playing with his son’s toy dinosaur, while his fellow soldiers console him. There’s a ton of chatter throughout the course of the mission, and I think that’s a great addition. It adds to the tension and makes the scenario seem a lot more believable.
Thunder Run
In terms of the visuals, the game looks absolutely stunning. The lighting looks top notch, with deep but detailed shadows, and the sun and smoke effects are stellar. If the gameplay and visuals are even half as good as what we see in these trailers, then I plan to play the shit out of this game.
Battlefield 3 arrives this fall for PC, Xbox360, and PS3.
