Basshunter – Pop-Star, or Street-Fighter?

Jonas Erik Altberg As The Basshunter
Ryu changed his name to Basshunter after being knocked out of the Street Fighter tournament.

Singer… songwriter… “actor”. I had never heard of Jonas Erik Altberg (Basshunter) until recently, but his angelic voice and touching lyrics have left quite the impression on me. After having released his number 1 hit “Boten Anna” (boning Anna in Swedish) he released further lyrical masterpieces, such as Angel in the Night, and I Miss You.

To avoid restricting his abilities to the European market, he wrote Now You’re Gone and Saturday for American audiences, the latter song being featured in the video above.

What I find most impressive is Jonas’s ability to paint vivid scenery with complex and meaningful lyrics, such as “I like to do it do it” and “It’s Satur-Saturday”.

You can listen to Saturday and many other of Jonas’s work on his official MySpace page.
