Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro Watches

We write posts on a lot of very expensive watches, watches that most of us will never even see in the real world, let alone own.  Then there are watches that are within reach, costing a few thousand dollars; I know that may seem like a lot of money to some, but for a watch enthusiast, it’s reasonable to spend that kind of money on a quality timepiece.  One such watch is the Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro, which is priced at $3,000.

Ball Watches are known for their high quality watches and their lumes are some of the brightest in the industry.  Instead of using luminescent paint on the markers on the dials, which require light to recharge them, Ball uses tiny tubes of tritium gas.  The gas in the tube reacts with luminous material in the tube to light up, without the need for light to charge them.

The Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro watches have a very elegant look to them.  The watches come in 42 mm steel cases with available white, grey, or black dials.  The watches come with 18 3H micro glass tubes, mentioned in the paragraph above.  The black dial watches feature two white sub-dials for the chronograph, a day and date window at the 3 o’clock position, and a power reserve indicator between 9 and 10 o’clock.

The bezel on this watch comes with a telemeter scale, which measures the distance of a lightning strike, hence the name “Storm Chaser”.  To work the telemeter scale is pretty simple, when the user sees a lightning flash, simply count the time between the sound of thunder and lightning, using the chronograph, and use to scale to see how far the lightning strike was.  The scale is accurate to +/- 1 kilometer.

The Fireman Storm Chaser Pro watches are powered by Ball’s RR1402 automatic movements, which are modified ETA 7750.  The watches come with black leather straps with orange stitches; the orange color is also present on the dial.  These watches are water resistant to 100 meters.  Via: Ball

  1. Actually Ball watches are quite a young brand in comparison with such icons like Omega, Rolex, Hublot, Adriatica, etc. So buying a high quality swiss made watches I would give preference to these brands
