Mr. Bond, your roadster is ready… say hello to the all-new 2015 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster, Aston Martin’s fastest production convertible ever. Regular readers will notice this car is not really that new, looking back a few years ago to the Vantage Roadster; you’ll notice 99% of the car’s design has been carried over. But this is definitely the car James would drive around in when he’s not on a mission, enjoying sunny warm weather on a small island somewhere and seducing beautiful socialites.
The Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster is a very elegant looking car nonetheless, a car that car that looks civilized on the outside but hides a monstrous V12 engine under the vented bonnet (hood). The 5,935cc V12 engine, AM28, produces 565 horsepower (573 PS) at 6,750 rpm and 457 pound-feet (620 Nm) of torque at 5,750 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed Sportshift III automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted shifters.
The Vantage S Roadster does the 0-60 mph sprint in 3.9 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds) with a top speed of 201 mph (323 km/h), making it the fastest production Aston Martin convertible.
The “new” roadster sees minor visual upgrades that are not really new because they are borrowed from the coupe, in the form of the front grill and bumper. The interior remains the same, with lots of soft-touch leather surfaces and carbon fiber accents throughout the cabin. The cloth convertible top hides behind a tonneau cover, the process of taking the top down takes 14 seconds and can be achieved at speeds of up to 30 km/h. Via: AM
