Arno’s Training in Assassin’s Creed: Unity

Though it may appear that Arno Dorian is wearing a bath-robe in this image, I assure you he’s not. He’s actually wearing rags, which I’m told were quite stylish during the height of the French Revolution in 1789.

What you’re about to watch is a trailer showing Arno’s training in Assassin’s Creed: Unity. I’m assuming this is just before he becomes the master assassin we’ve seen in all the trailers leading up to the game’s launch later this year. He looks a little haggard, he’s wearing a bath robe, and he’s training with a mysterious grizzled gentleman with inky black hair.

Arno Getting His Ass Kicked…

Spoiler alert, our Parisian hero gets his ass kicked a little. He’s got spunk, though, I’ll give him that. I have a feeling Arno will make quite the talented assassin… in time.

What struck me about this video is just how much better the characters look compared to the previous generation of Assassin’s Creed games. Their hair, skin, eyes, and even clothing have all improved by leaps and bounds. They still look slightly stylized, but in a good way.

More importantly, they’re detailed… life-like, even.

Arno’s Origin Story

I’ve always enjoyed the origin stories in the Assassin’s Creed games, and I’m looking forward to seeing how Ubisoft decided to approach Arno. They cast Dan Jeannotte as the voice of Arno, which is unsurprising given that he’s Canadian and has worked extensively here in Montreal and Toronto.

I think it’s a shame that Ubisoft asked him to put on a fake British accent, but I’m sure they had their reasons. After all, the French accent is pretty damn challenging to understand.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity arrives early November for all major platforms.
