Android Powered Amazon Kindle Fire

The tablet market just got a little more competitive thanks to the all-new Amazon Kindle Fire, powered by Android. The Kindle Fire comes with a 7” dual-touchscreen and weighs 14.6 ounces.

The Kindle Fire is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor with 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, if that’s not enough storage for you, the handheld device also comes with unlimited cloud storage for all Amazon content.  Amazon currently does not have a 3G model, you’ll have to settle for a Wi-Fi only model (for now I’m assuming, they’ll most likely come up a 3G Kindle Fire +, or something like that, later on).

To keep costs down, the tablet doesn’t come with built-in camera(s) like its competitors.  Amazon’s focus with the Kindle Fire is the content, which there is plenty of.  The device has access to over 100,000 TV shows and movies from Amazon Instant Video, over 17 million songs from Amazon MP3, and over 1 million Kindle ebooks.

The Kindle Fire tablet is at a similar price point to the Kindle Ereader which basically means that as well as reading books like you can on the ereader, you can also do things like watch movies, read emails and go on the internet.
