All-New Mini Clubvan – The Workhorse

If there is one vehicle out there that is being milked like crazy, it has to be the Mini. There are already six variants of the Mini not including the special editions and the company has just introduced the seventh edition to the lineup, the Mini ClubVan.

The vehicle is supposed to be the first premium compact delivery van and is based on the longer Mini Clubman. For it to function as a delivery van, the Clubvan no longer has rear seats and the boot floor which allows for more cargo space.

Rear cargo area of the Mini Clubvan

According to the company, cargo area is 45.3-inches long and the narrowest point in the back is 40.2-inches wide. This allows for just over 30 cubic feet of cargo space and the Clubvan also has a maximum payload capacity of 1,102 pounds. The most noticeable change of course is the lack of rear side windows to be classified as a commercial vehicle and be taxed at a lower rate in certain countries.

Interior of Mini Clubvan

The Mini Clubvan is available in two gasoline engines and one diesel engine. The first model is referred to ‘One’ and it features the 1.6-liter gasoline engine delivering 97 horsepower and can achieve a top speed of 115mph while delivering an average of 42.8 mpg fuel economy.  The next model is the ‘Cooper Clubvan’ and it features the same 1.6-liter engine but it’s tuned to put out 121 horsepower allowing the vehicle to achieve a top speed of 125mph yet still have the same fuel economy as model ‘One’.

The final model is the ‘Cooper D’ model rocking the diesel engine which delivers a 110 horsepower and has a top speed of 122mph. And the most impressive part of the diesel model is the 60.3mpg fuel economy. Of course, diesels are known for their efficiency. All three models come standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox while the ‘Cooper D’ model has a six-speed automatic transmission available as an option.

More details and pricing are to be released soon by the company.
