Airbnb or Hotels? Which Should You Choose

When traveling, you have to decide where you want to stay first and foremost. If you’re staying in the cities, you’re two main options are hotels or Airbnb. Both are great options depending on what it is you’re looking for out of your accommodation. Hopefully by the end of this article you’ll be able to make a decision on what’s right for you, but at the end of the day, if you’re worried about not liking one or the other just book a couple of days in each and then make your decision from there. No harm, no foul.

Let’s first talk about Airbnb and some of its benefits and downsides. Airbnb is great if you like your own space or you want to meet a local right off the bat. You can book either through the booking site so it gives you a bit of flexibility. Airbnb is also great if you want something that feels a bit more homely than a hotel. Since it is in fact someone’s actual home, this can help combat homesickness if you’re prone to that.

The other great thing about Airbnb is that it will almost always come with a kitchen so you can save some money without having to eat out.

However, Airbnb has a few downsides as well. The biggest downside that sometimes they’re a bit more out in the suburbs than right in the heart of cities.

When it comes to pricing, it depends on what’s cheapest. Usually Airbnb will be cheaper, but that’s not always the case so you really need to look at each thing individually. Hotels and Airbnbs can’t really be compared on the pricing front because it depends so much on where you are.

Hotels are great options when choosing to travel for many reasons. The biggest reason for choosing a hotel is so you don’t have to do anything yourself. It’s comfortable, they replace your sheets, clean your room and all you have to do is exist there. There’s also the possibility of meeting people in hotel lobbies, whereas you are more unlikely to meet someone if you’re staying at an Airnbn by yourself.

Ultimately, when deciding between hotels or an Airbnb it really comes down to your personal preference and what you want. While hotels are great and can feel pretty luxurious, you may meet some more people and it will be more sociable, Airnbn is great if you just want a break from the socializing and a more homely feel. Whatever you choose, just make sure to read the reviews!

  1. Interesting topic! Before AirBnb was introduced, whenever I’ll be traveling to another place, I would really book a room at a hotel immediately since there was no other viable option back then. But recently, I’ve been getting an Airbnb accomodation since it’s really comfortable and cheap, because as what’s been said on the article, you can just cook for yourself unlike in hotels having an incomplete features compared to a decent home. Thanks for sharing!
