Aether Apparel – Vapor Base Layer Half Zip

I’ve been on a bit of a clothing kick these past few months…

My wardrobe was looking a little bare after years of neglect, and with spring in the air, I knew it was time. So I started using my well honed research skills and began my search. It didn’t take long for me to realize that my tastes have changed dramatically over the years, and that high quality, durable clothing seem to have gone down rapidly in price while I wasn’t paying attention. I’m more of a technical wear guy these days.

Have you noticed that as well? Not that my tastes have changed (you don’t know me), but that high quality garments have gone down in price a lot? I expect it has a little something to do with clothing companies selling direct, but I digress; that’s a topic for another day.

In any case…

Today I want to show off the Vapor Base Layer Half Zip that I picked up from Aether Apparel a little over a month ago. I’m not going to call this a full review, because I’m not using my own photos and I consider that cheating. Because I’ve picked up more than one item from Aether, I’m going to do a proper “brand review” in the coming weeks, but today let’s just focus on the Half Zip.

Hint: It’s pretty damn great.

If it’s not too much trouble, I kindly ask that you click the big versions as the thumbnails are admittedly a bit dark and small. That way you can see all the lovely details.

Right, so there we have it. It’s a half zip, and you’ve undoubtedly seen dozens of them. What I really like about Aether’s take on the classic half zip is that the cut is fantastic, and – in my opinion – makes me look like a classy looking super spy, and secondly that the poly jersey from Italian fabric mill Lanificio Becagli is wonderfully comfortable.

It doesn’t hurt that the garment is well constructed either. There’s no point looking like a spy if your clothing can’t withstand the abuse of doing tons of spy things. The previously mentioned fabric seems tough, and the stitching on the garment is top notch. The quality is right up there with the likes of Triple Aught Design, another brand I quite like.

So with that in mind, if you’re looking for some awesome base layers for this season, check out Aether Apparel. This half zip is $85 USD, and they’ve got plenty of other great stuff as well. I suspect you’ll be hearing more about them from me over the coming weeks.
