4 Ways To Defeat Lower Back Pain

Many men – particularly in the western world – suffer from lower back pain. It’s no surprise. We spend so much of our lives curled up in front of computer desks, hunched over steering wheels, and slouching on comfortable sofas. Do any of these too often, and the result is going to be back pain of some description- it’s almost guaranteed.

So, the big question is: how do we deal with it? There are a few ways to ease the symptoms. Today, we’re going to take a look at some of the ways you can defeat lower back pain. It’s likely to come back, of course. But for instant relief and a stronger back, you should try these simple solutions.

Sit better

First of all, think about how you sit down. And the length of time you spend in a chair. Ideally, you should only remain seated for no longer than two hours at a time, after which you should get up and move around a bit too. In fact, there is a lot of evidence that suggests working standing up has a lot of benefits, so a stand-up desk might be a good idea. If you do sit down, try and ergonomic chair, place your knees and hips at the same angle, and keep your back straight.

Sleep more comfortably

Here’s an excuse to splash out on that expensive mattress you always wanted. If you suffer discomfort in bed, then it’s time to throw out your old, beaten up mattress and get a new one. It might take a while to find your perfect mattress, so take your time and choose well. Something stiffer could do you more favours, as could one of the memory foam options. It’s up to your own tastes at the end of the day, although your doctor might be able to help you with some suggestions. Never underestimate the importance of a good night’s sleep!

Drive wisely

If you spend a long time in a vehicle, lower back pain is going to be a huge problem for you. There are various ways to ease the pain, though. First of all, make your seat is in a good position and that you have easy access to the steering wheel – and a straight a back as possible. You could also try a lumbar support to keep your lower midriff nice and straight. Put one of these on and you’ll notice the difference immediately. And, of course, you should always drive for a maximum of two hours, and get out and stretch your legs.

Get a massage

If you get home from work and are suffering from lower back pain, then regular massages can help. Ask your partner, family member or friend to give you a gentle rub down, and you will help the muscles relax a little more. You could also use a massage machine. Head over and take a look at this Kyrobak info for more details of the type of equipment that is currently on the market. However, make sure you don’t overdo the massage, and always stop if you are feeling too uncomfortable. You could be doing more damage than good.

With any luck, some of these suggestions should help. As always, you should always visit your doctor first to discuss things, but hopefully you will be in a position to reduce your lower back pain.

  1. When I got my standing desk, my long time low back pain subsided considerably. I now stand around 3 or 4 hours a day and feel great, provided that I use a special mat to cushion my feet.
