3 Ways To Improve Your Resilience

Life is tough and everyone has a million different things they feel like they need to be doing and want to do and it can be hard to balance these and feel like you’re really succeeding. Whether it’s in work or in your personal life, everyone has goals and needs ways in which they can succeed and improve their follow through with any projects or obstacles coming their way.

At the end of the day, it comes down to how committed you are as a person to these goals and projects, but there are three ways in which you can further increase your chances of success and improve your resilience to get those things done that you want to finish and succeed at.

Positivity
People underestimate the power of positivity and positive thinking. If you are positive you’ll have a healthier outlook on what you’re trying to accomplish and you’re more likely to come up with solutions and better approach the goal or the project than if you were negative.

According to Barbara Fredrickson, PhD, who is the author of Positivity, “In our research program, we found that the daily repertoire of emotions of people who are highly resilient is remarkably different from those who are not.”

When you’re resilient you don’t let the little things get you down, you’re thinking about how you can use these misfortunes or unexpected turns of events to improve yourself and further work towards your goal. So positivity will get you so much further in accomplishing your goals and projects.

Release Tension
Just like how positive thinking can help you immensely in improving your resilience, releasing tension is just as important. Everyone gets frustrated, everyone gets angry, everyone feels tension in their daily life and that’s totally ok. The important thing is how you deal with that tension.

Rather than taking it out on people and filling yourself with frustration and negativity, try to release the tension in a constructive way. Get some exercise and get outside to clear your head, write in a journal or even draw. You could do some yoga or mediate, even talking it over with a friend or counselor can be immensely helpful.

Do something that you find relaxing and something that can be an outlet for your frustrations. Releasing the tension is important to keeping a positive outlook and improving your resilience.

Take Action
It’s easy to be overwhelmed by goals and projects, and when we feel overwhelmed our response is to shut down and not know where to start. If you want to be resilient and you really want to succeed, you need to take action.

Push yourself, do it, get it down and you’ll feel amazing about it. Even if it’s not the perfect solution and it may need tweaking later, just getting out there and taking action and getting started will make a world of difference to both your mentality and accomplishing the goal.

These three ways of improving your resilience are all about your mental strength and pushing yourself to be better and helping you achieve your goals and follow through better on projects. Try these three things and you’ll be succeeding in no time.
