I wasn’t too impressed with the latest design of the Lexus GS sedan that was introduced in 2013; my main complaint was the conservative looks of the car. The 2016 Lexus GS F takes care of the conservative looks, somewhat, by slapping on the now infamous massive grill found on a few other Lexus products, which has been hotly debated by car fans. Personally, that massive grill has grown on me and I almost bought a Lexus IS.
Other than the big grill, the car still looks pretty tame on the outside, but under the hood, there is quite a beastly engine. It’s equipped with the naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 engine also found on the RC F, which produces 467 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 389 pound-feet of torque between 4,800 and 5,600 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The Lexus GS F does fall a bit short in the horsepower department when compared to cars it’s aiming to compete with, cars like the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, BMW M5, and Cadillac CTS-V.
